SOC2, Type 2 Compliance designation ensures the tech-enabled higher education company meets the highest standards for security practices that protect the privacy of client student data. 

Sextant Marketing, a leading education management service provider offering fee-for-service digital marketing, recruiting and retention services to universities and colleges, recently completed a System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2, Type 2 review that involved a third-party auditor’s assessment of the company’s internal controls relevant to the AICPA, Trust Services Criteria for Security. Achieving this high level of compliance gives university clients the assurance that Sextant is committed to providing effective, strong controls for the security, availability, and processing integrity of systems used to process client data and ensure compliance related to Cybersecurity and FAFSA best-practices. 

Experts consider a SOC 2, Type 2 compliance report to be the gold standard for evaluating how well an organization complies with data security standards. As outlined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), these controls, called Trust Services Principles, include information security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. 

A SOC 2, Type 2 compliance audit confirms that an organization adheres to best practices for securing sensitive internal and customer data. The audit plays a key role in organizational oversight, vendor management programs, corporate governance, and risk management processes.
