Media Strategist/Buyer

Position Summary:
The Digital Media Strategist/Buyer is an integral role within Sextant Marketing, providing a blend of strategic omni-channel media planning and hands-on campaign execution. The Digital Media Strategist/Buyer participates in the planning, implementation, and performance analysis of digital media programs across an array of digital media channels including programmatic, display, CTV, digital OOH paid search and paid social. This position provides an opportunity to engage across the organization providing data-driven actionable insights and reporting. The Digital Media Strategist/Buyer will collaborate with peers, clients, and partners in communicating the effectiveness of our media and marketing campaigns. The optimal candidate will have experience in digital lead generation and customer acquisition as well as experience in data management and performance reporting.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Digital Media Strategist/Buyer reports to the Media Director and will be responsible for providing strategic omni-channel media planning and hands campaign implementation in bolstering Sextant’s media practice. This person will be responsible for periodic media planning, daily cross-channel performance analysis, budget and campaign optimization, strict budget management, reporting, and driving growth in our media channels on behalf of our clients. Examples of these responsibilities would include:
- Planning media and channel tactics to quantify and reach desired target audience for specified partner brands and degree programs
- Identify, negotiate and manage external media suppliers
- Forecast required budgets and performance metrics to achieve the desired KPI’s
- Research, develop and communicate documented, client ready media strategies
- Set-up, manage and optimize digital media campaigns across multiple platforms
- Ensure all campaigns achieve lead goals and media KPI’s while maintaining strict adherence to budget
- Discover expansion and growth opportunities through continuous research and analysis of keywords, audiences, channels, technology and ad formats
- Compile data and produce periodic client-ready media reports providing deep analysis and actionable insights
- Maintain detailed creative specification documentation and ensure requirements are clearly communicated and understood by cross-functional teams (Account Managers, Marketing Managers, Project Management and Creative)
- Manage and maintain weekly media budget tracking report and monthly insertion order process
- Analyze campaign data, identify trends and act on opportunities to increase performance while ensuring a positive return on ad spend and other key performance indicators
- Collaborate with other internal teams (e.g., Account Manager and Marketing Managers) to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives
- Assist with the creation of monthly invoice packets to ensure a constant flow of invoice delivery to the clients and media vendors.
- Collaborate with external agencies and vendors to execute media campaigns.
- Keeping abreast of and implementing the latest technology and industry trends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience working in programmatic ad platforms (TradeDesk or similar)
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads and similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of web analytics tools/software, such as but not limited to Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, etc.
- The ability to analyze, report, and communicate media performance to internal teams and expertly present to external clients.
- Excellent analytical skills and a knack for data analysis
- Excellent communication skills; comfort with being on web conferences and communicating through emails, instant message with clients, partners, and internal team members
- Expert at organizational management and applying good judgment on business endeavors.

- Ability to complete assigned tasks within deadlines and learn advanced strategies.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 2-year experience within a media planning or buying function within a company/agency or account services experience within an advertising agency is preferred.
- Google Ads, Google Analytics and other industry certifications are a plus
- Experience working in digital ad platforms such as Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Tag Manager, or other similar platforms
- Experience in Excel, including the ability to use formulas and pivot tables
- Experience with a high-volume, multi-client agency with client-facing responsibilities is a plus.
- Prior experience in higher education (or similar high-value considered purchase industry) is a plus, but not required.
