The Associate Graphic Designer

Position Summary:

The Associate Graphic Designer is an integral role within Sextant Marketing, developing direct response marketing creative that supports the digital and traditional marketing strategies of the Client Services team. This is a position where hands-on development of banner ads, html emails, landing pages, video/animation content, brochures, web pages, and more allows for project delivery to the higher education & corporate-focused clients within Sextant Marketing’s portfolio. This role will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing Services and the Marketing Services team of designers, copywriters, marketing managers and project managers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Graphic Designer will be responsible for supporting the full-cycle of client marketing campaigns through the development of creative assets. Thus, the candidate will be exposed to all aspects of the digital marketing funnel and aid in or become responsible for the completion of timely creative assets for key clients. Examples of these responsibilities would include:

  • Ability to conceptualize a creative idea/message from the information presented in a creative brief.
  • Learn to implement best practices in direct response digital media.
  • Maintain an image library for clients based on brand guidelines and optimize images for the requested medium.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions to develop new content, imagery and messaging for clients within our portfolio.
  • Stay up-to-date on the ad unit availability and ad specifications for digital platforms such as Google Display Network, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snap Chat, and more.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and quality, while meeting deadlines.
  • Publish blog articles, add new content, edit existing web content and provide maintenance to client websites.
  • Assist with reviewing new technologies aimed at keeping the company at the forefront of developments in digital marketing.
  • Candidate must show desire to learn, take on multiple tasks and grow within the role that allows for learning and experience in a range of marketing disciplines.
  • Other activities as described by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Have a strong desire to master the software programs and direct response strategies needed to take integrated digital marketing campaigns from concept to creative development.
  • Basic knowledge of web and print mediums.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite products.
  • Excellent communication skills; comfort with being on the phone and communicating through emails.
  • Positive attitude with an optimistic and energetic disposition.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within deadlines and learn advanced strategies.
  • Desire to learn and excel with a growing company.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Applicable experience may negate degree requirements.
    • Basic understanding of internet marketing principles & Search Engine Optimization.
    • Basic social media experience, personal or professional, focused on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Snap Chat and Pinterest – additional platforms a plus.
    • Experience with Social Media Management software, such as Hootsuite, Buffer or Hubspot is a plus
    • Experience with Content Management Systems such as WordPress, Drupal, Hubspot, Sitecore, Umbraco and similar is a plus.
    • Experience with the Higher Education marketing industry is a plus.
